Pavis Lunar Garrison

The Pavis Lunar Garrison originally consisted of most of the original occupation force, but the Lunar Authorities rapidly realised that the agricultural surplus of Pavis County was insufficient to feed such a large force through an entire year without widespread famine, and supplying it with caravans from Dragon Pass was uneconomic.  Plus, once Geo's New Pavis Inn had fallen, there didn't seem to be any need to maintain such a force.  Relations with Sun County were amicable, and a plan to invade and subdue the Big Rubble was rapidly dismissed as impractacle and unnecessary.  Neither the trolls of the Rubble nor the animal nomads were regarded as a threat to the fortifications of New Pavis, and so many of the best regiments were drawn back to Dragon Pass.  For the regular units in the remaining garrison, a rotation policy has been implemented - Pavis is regarded as simultaneously a hard billet for the climate, but also somewhere where fighting skills might soon atrophy.  There is also a recognition that the heavy infantry used in the original conquest are not the most appropriate troops for an on-going occupation.

As a result, the Pavis Lunar Garrison currently consists of:

  • Heartland Units:
    • A detachment of the Marble Phalanx, mainly based in Pavis and Corflu.
    • The Antelope Lancers regiment, mainly based in
  • Provincial Units:
    • The Crimson Horrors peltast regiment from Tarsh
  • Auxiliary Units:
    • The Sable Riders
